Snow Squalls / Lake Effect Snow affects Southern Ontario!

Snow Squalls began early this morning in Mississauga, Oakville and Burlington, and moved into Hamilton just in time for the morning commute.

Weather Network meteorologist Tyler Hamilton said the squalls are slow-moving, driven by winds in the relatively light 30-40 km/h range, easing through the evening and overnight.

Before the event is over Mississauga and Oakville can expect 5-10 cm of snow , and Hamilton and Burlington can expect 10-15 cm of snow.

With snow on roads and highways, expect a difficult commute. Take extra time and drive to the conditions.

Operations Update:

In Burlington, Oakville and Mississauga, all crews, including walks, were on the road by 5:30 salting. By 7:00 there was enough accumulation to start plowing at which time we dispatched all plow trucks.

The plow trucks in the Hamilton area were dispatched at 8:30 AM.

We will be keeping all throughways open until the snow stops at which time the salt trucks will then be dispatched to required properties.

Once the snow has ceased to fall, we will then complete all driveways, walkways and throughways based on your contract specifications.
