Plant of the Month: Hosta First Frost

This is an excellent variegated sport of the popular ‘Halcyon’. Hosta ‘First Frost’ begins spring with deep blue leaves edged in creamy yellow.

The border is irregular and turns pure white by midsummer. The leaves keep their blue tones, however, and growth continues right into autumn and through very chilly weather until the first frost.

Just 16 inches high, ‘First Frost’ is topped by pale lavender blooms in early summer and spreads 3 feet wide, a good size for ground cover, edging, or specimen use. Combine with Heuchera and ferns in a partially shaded garden.

Grows 16 Inches high and 36 Inches wide. Hardiness Zone : 3 – 9
