Snow removal can be a big part of an annual maintenance contract in Southern Ontario. Here are a few things that can be done to keep the price in line with your budget.
1. Prepare Site Maps so that everyone understands the expectations (contractors, unit owners and Property Managers)
2. Encourage unit owners to take some responsibility and risk
3. Use in house services for walks and steps
4. Remove snow piles by blowing snow to reduce sod damage (saves on spring repairs)
5. Extend the life of your new concrete by using ice-melter instead of salt
6. Ensure your contractor has WSIB clearing and has $5M in liability insurance
7. Set realistic expectations with board members and unit owners. The higher the expectations the higher the cost!
